How to play

About four minutes a run. No account, nothing to install.

01
Spin

A legendary team-season lands on the board with its real nine-man rotation.

02
Choose

Pick a player, then pick one of his ratings to take. Not his best one — whichever one you want.

03
Repeat

Thirteen rounds fills all 13 attributes. Every attribute can only be taken once, so a round spent on the wrong one is gone.

04
Simulate

Your build plays an 82-game season against the rest of the pool, and the report shows which pick carried it and which one cost it.

The 13 attributes, and why position decides everything

Overall is a weighted sum, not an average. The same rating is worth wildly different amounts depending on the position you were dealt — taking three-point shooting from 70 to 96 is worth about +2.89 overall to a shooting guard and +0.89 to a centre. That gap is the game.

Each row links to a full breakdown of that attribute across all five positions.

What a good run actually looks like

Measured over 40,000 drafts run through this exact engine, not guessed:

88Median overall
91Top 10% of runs
93Top 1%
41–41Median record
51.1%Reach the playoffs
0.8%Win the title

Where the field goes with its first pick:

REB goes 3rd most often at 13.3% of opening picks, but averages only +1.90 overall across the five positions — 9th of 13. Position weighting is why.

Questions

Is Build a Hooper on Roblox?
No. It is a free browser game — nothing to install and no account. Several sites claim otherwise; they are wrong.
Are there codes or redeem rewards?
No. There is no code system, no currency and nothing to redeem.
Is it free?
Yes. No signup, no download, no paid tier.
How long is a run?
About four minutes: thirteen picks, then an 82-game simulation.
What are the thirteen attributes?
3PT, MID, FIN, DNK, HAN, PAS, PDEF, IDEF, BLK, REB, ATH, STR, CLU — shooting, finishing, playmaking, defence, physicals and clutch.
Why is my overall lower than my ratings?
Overall is weighted by position, not averaged. A 96 three-point rating is worth about +2.9 overall to a shooting guard and under +1 to a centre.
Is this official?
No. It is an independent fan project, not affiliated with the NBA, NBA 2K or Take-Two. The format was originated by Build-A-Bucket from @Build_A_Player.
